My son, Andrew - 5, had not been breastfed. We tried, didn't work. When my second came along, same routine, tried, didn't work for us. I probably didn't try hard enough.
Anyways, he hadn't been exposed to it. I took him over to my MIL's house for Thanksgiving Dinner, where his favorite Aunt was nursing her daughter.
I braced myself. Waited to see his response before I jumped in.
Andrew: "Where's the baby"
Aunt: "Under the blanket"
Andrew: "What is she doing under there"
Aunt: "I'm feeding her..."
Andrew: "Where's the bottle"
Aunt: "Well I feed her differently than you and your brother were fed"
awkward silence, I could tell he was in thought.
Me: Andrew, she feeds him like a mother cat or mother dog feeds their puppies/kittens.
Andrew: "Ohhhhhhhhhhh (big sigh) like the pigs do? I saw a pig on TV do that once."
Yes, like the pigs do.

Too funny!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny because when I was nursing my oldest, my niece (who was 8 at that time) said, "Oh, you feed him like a puppy dog?" We all died laughing and she got so upset!
