Looking For What He Lost

From the other room, I heard my husband tell Monkey that he could not get his sleeping bag down from the top of his closet. He wanted him to pick up the toys all over the living room floor first. A few minutes later I heard some rustling coming from the direction of Monkey's room, then a crash and a thud.

Yep, you guessed it. He decided that he was too going to get his sleeping bag down from the top of the closet, even if dad had said "No". In the process, he lost his balance and fell off the chair he was climbing on, scratching his leg up pretty badly. As we were cleaning it up and applying Triple Antibiotic Ointment and bandaids, Carl commented that it looked like it had just peeled the first layer of skin right off. I agreed.

Later, after the tears were dried and he was feeling better, I found Monkey rooting around in his room. I asked him what he was looking for. He looked up at me, replied, "My skin," and kept on digging.

  1. Poor Monkey. Did you leave it at that, or explain to him that we wasn't likely to find a layer of skin laying around?!
